Thistle Haydock Hotel


Once, Haydock was one of the richest coal-mining areas in the country: in its heyday in the 1900’s, it had no fewer than three railway stations. Today, its best known as the home of Haydock Park racecourse, which stages both Flat and National Hunt meetings.

With 137 bedrooms, including standard and deluxe bedrooms, studio and suites, Thistle Haydock is the perfect base for a day at the races. Not just at our local course, either: being close to the M6, we’re also handy for Aintree when the daddy of them, the Grand National, comes around in April. And since we’re located just between Liverpool and Manchester, we’re ideally placed for business meetings and other events, with ample free parking and a choice of 17 meeting rooms, the largest seating 300 theatre-style.

The bar area in the hotel has recently been refurbished and our restaurant has just been awarded an AA Rosette, making it a fitting venue for celebrating a winner, while our Otium Health and Leisure Club has everything you need to wind down from the day’s excitement – or work off your frustration after your horse has fallen at the first.

Thistle Haydock is currently undergoing refurbishment to bedrooms in the hotel until August 2008, alternative arrangements have been made within the hotel to ensure as little disruption to guests as possible.

Thistle Haydock offers an on-site Marquee available for Private Hire to suit all functions. Guests are encouraged to enquire if a function is present prior to booking as noise may be experienced when the Marquee is in use.
