Ulyana Pustushencko, Thistle Westminster’s committed Financial Controller, was recently acclaimed as one of the outstanding ‘Aspiring Managers’ by The Institute of Hospitality’s London Branch.

Nominated for the industry recognition by her peers, Ulyana’s success in her role saw her collect the award at what was the London branch of the Institute’s third Annual Chairman’s Ball, held at a glitzy awards ceremony recently at The Savoy, London.

Heiko Figge, Managing Director, Guoman & Thistle Hotels, Simon Farr, Regional Operations Director Thistle London and Thistle Westminster General Manager, Jane Hills were all in attendance at the lavish ball to show their support and congratulate Ulyana on the evening.

The Aspiring Manager Awards were devised by the Institute of Hospitality London Branch to recognise hospitality managers who had consistently demonstrated their directional talent & potential within their own organisations over the past twelve months – constantly proving their commitment to the highest standards of quality & service excellence.

Ulyana was welcomed to the stage to collect her award by Thistle’s Head of Human Resources, Sarah Beal; who detailed to the attendees Ulyana’s commitment to her role, her fantastic engagement and collaboration with colleagues and why she was such a valid Aspiring Manager.

As well as now carrying the notorious title of Aspiring Manager, as part of her award, Ulyana also received: one year’s Associate Membership to the Institute of Hospitality, A Programme Development Course, a luxury weekend break for two, membership of the Institute of Hospitality Aspiring Managers’ Network, as well as further opportunities for development including personal mentoring & leadership classes.

Reflecting on her achievement, Ulyana commented: “It was an absolute delight just to be nominated for this award, never mind to collect the certificate!  I’m grateful to all my colleagues at Thistle Westminster for supporting me and what I set out to achieve.

It’s extremely satisfying to be part of a company that shares my values of people and a team, and which is taking its colleagues’ efforts seriously.  The Aspiring Managers Award also opens other greater opportunities for me, as it encourages you to continue to train, learn and aspire to be the very best in the industry.”

General manager Jane Hills added: “We’re all extremely proud to have an Aspiring Manager within our hotel, Ulyana is a true asset to the team and the ongoing success of Thistle Westminster.”
