Thistle Bloomsbury Hotel Goes Back To Its Roots

A staggering £10million has been invested in an exciting and extensive refurbishment and restoration programme that will see the hotel lovingly restored to its former Edwardian splendour.

And that’s not all; the hotel which is a Grade II listed building, has reverted to its original name The Kingsley as a mark of its literary heritage to the author Charles Kingsley and the Bloomsbury Set.

The hotel is now in the second phase of refurbishment with a focus on public areas including the front of house and reception areas, plus a new bar and fine dining restaurant.

The first phase of the refurbishment saw the unveiling of 42 new deluxe and executive bedrooms. As well as a renewed, glossy exterior to the building thanks to a delicate restoration project of the stunning Victorian façade.

Inside, the bedrooms are completely modernised with a vibrant colour palette of rich reds, greys and creams for a warm and restful experience, as well as luxury bathrooms boasting power showers, stylish contemporary furnishings and state of the art technology including LCD TV’s, and Wi-Fi access throughout.

General Manager at the hotel, Jane Hills said: “The hotel is the ideal venue for both corporate and leisure guests. Our exciting investment plans coupled with the hotel’s excellent location will offer guests a first class, warm and relaxing experience within a luxury environment.”

The exciting refurbishment is a continuous project which will also see a focus placed on enhancing the meetings and events product with stylish contemporary furnishings, diverse lighting systems and the highest quality AV equipment.

In addition to the aesthetic look of the hotel, Thistle has invested in developing its corporate social responsibility strategy in a bid to reduce the company’s overall carbon footprint - this includes energy efficiency measures such as in-room light sensors, dual flush WC systems and a recycling programme.

Thistle Holborn, The Kingsley refurbishment is due for completion in summer 2009 and is part of a national rebrand programme which has seen over £100million investment across Thistle Hotels and includes a new corporate identity and enhanced service and quality standards.
