The Thistle Aberdeen Altens has reached a milestone in its £3million investment from its owners Curzon Hotels with the £500,000 transformation of the hotel’s Ballroom which was completed this month. The investment forms part of Thistle’s national rebrand and refurbishment strategy across the group of over 30 UK hotels.

The completely refurbished Ballroom, which holds 400 delegates, theatre-style now includes a sophisticated air conditioning system to keep delegates comfortable all year round as well as state-of-the-art mood creation lighting to suit any event.

The neutrally decorated Ballroom, which is adorned with Celtic themed canvasses, has a brand new bar and a built-in stage for a band or DJ without losing valuable floor space to allow the room to hold 240 guests in a dinner dance setup and 300 for dinner.

For those hosting a smaller event, the Ballroom can be divided into the Craigenlow Suite, which holds 200 theatre-style and the Kemnay Suite, which holds 120 theatre-style or conference and meeting bookers can choose from one of the 9 other smaller, well-equipped meeting rooms.

For delegates wishing to stay, the hotel has 216 bedrooms including 48 executive rooms, which were upgraded in 2008, some with its own dressing area. Refurbishment of bedrooms on the first floor is well underway and is due to be completed in May. General manager of Thistle Aberdeen Altens, Stephen Gow comments: “We are committed to offering our corporate clients the highest quality of service and advanced technology across are meeting and events facilities. The refurbishment of the hotel’s Ballroom and planned refurbishment of the second floor meeting rooms shows we are dedicated to being one of the best business venues in the city.”

Thistle is constantly reviewing its standards to understand what the guest needs, this includes its flexible, no-nonsense dining options, available 24 hours a day as well as the commitment of the hotel’s dedicated meetings team. Thistle keeps its corporate guests connected not only through its complete WiFi access, but the geographical spread of the portfolio; covering most major cities and business hubs.

Thistle is enhancing all areas and facilities of its portfolio of over 30 UK hotels, including refurbishment of bedrooms and public areas and improved service quality across all hotels. This is part of Thistle’s £100m investment to rebrand all its hotels across the UK, including the roll-out of a brand new corporate identity.
