Thistle Holborn, The Kingsley celebrates as its aspiring manager - Beatriz Orta is recognised by The Institute of Hospitality

Beatriz Orta, Operations Manager at Thistle Holborn, The Kingsley, has been commended as one of the hospitality industry’s exceptional ‘Aspiring Managers’ by The Institute of Hospitality’s (IoH) London Branch.

Nominated by Thistle’s UK Operations Director Simon Farr, for her implementation of intensive training and development programmes across all departments and her strong leadership skills, Beatriz collected the award at the London IoH’s fourth Annual Chairman’s Ball.

Beatriz was welcomed to the stage to collect her award by Johan Scheepers, The Kingsley’s General Manager, who praised Beatriz’s commendable commitment to her role, and announced with certainty that Beatriz will one day achieve her personal goal of progressing to a General Manager role with Thistle.

Reflecting on her achievement, Beatriz commented: “I feel incredibly privileged to be nominated for this award and very grateful to Johan and the team at The Kingsley for supporting me in what I set out to achieve.”

Johan Scheepers added: “Beatriz played an integral part in re-positioning The Kingsley during the hotel’s extensive refurbishment and re-branding programme over the last 18 months.  Since her promotion from Food and Beverage Manager to Operations Manager at the beginning of the year, we have seen visible changes in the hotel’s performance thanks to Beatriz’s passion and leadership skills. This paid dividends when the hotel achieved the highest scores for customer service within the Thistle group, and was also named the Highest Scoring Newcomer in the UK by Hospitality Assured, a fantastic achievement for a young team. Beatriz is an exceptional role model and we are very lucky to count her as one of our team.”

The Institute of Hospitality is the professional body for managers – and aspiring managers – working in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries. The Aspiring Manager Awards were devised by the IoH London Branch to recognise hospitality managers that have consistently demonstrated their directional talent and potential within their own organisations.
