The Grand National at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, the highlight of a three-day meeting, first took place in 1839 and is widely regarded as the greatest steeplechase in the world.
The Tate Liverpool presents Mark Rothko's paintings, The Seagram Murals. The ground floor gallery displays these nine emotive and significant pieces, with the walls painted grey according to Rothko's specifications and low lighting enhancing the dramatic qualities of the works.
