The prestigious Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup is shinty's blue riband event and the final, in 2010 at Inverness' Bught Park, is often a spectacular battle. Due to the prestigious nature of the final, the celebrations are well worth participating in.
Inverness Highland Games, returning to Northern Meeting Park in 2010 after more than half a century, is one of Scotland's oldest traditional summer games. It's a compendium of what can be done in kilts, from "heavy" sports to Scottish dancing and bagpiping.
It may not be as big as the world-famous Edinburgh Tattoo, but the annual Inverness Military Tattoo is the Highlands' only tattoo and has been running for just as long: both were first held in 1950.
