The Grand National at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, the highlight of a three-day meeting, first took place in 1839 and is widely regarded as the greatest steeplechase in the world.
Facing East, at Manchester Art Gallery, is dedicated to outstanding contemporary paintings and sculptures from China, India and Japan. Featuring pieces from Frank Cohen's private collection, it's a rare opportunity to see works from some of Asia's most promising artists.
The Tate Liverpool presents Mark Rothko's paintings, The Seagram Murals. The ground floor gallery displays these nine emotive and significant pieces, with the walls painted grey according to Rothko's specifications and low lighting enhancing the dramatic qualities of the works.
Inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella and Beauty & the Beast, Disney's Three Classic Fairy Tales comes to Echo Arena Liverpool this spring. With over 20 much-loved characters appearing, it's a show for Disney fans of all ages.
The Tate Liverpool presents the DLA Piper Series: This is Sculpture, taking an ambitious and revolutionary look at the history of modern and contemporary sculpture. The show examines the trajectory of innovation in 20th and 21st-century art.
