Derby is the Real Ale capital of England, and local producers come out in force for the annual CAMRA Summer Beer Festival. The Assembly Rooms are mobbed by beer-lovers eager to sample the scores of real ales on offer.
Derby gets active as The Big Fun Run comes to Darley Park. The 5km organised annual run invites people of all ages to take part, in the name of fun and of whatever charity you want to support.
The Friends Provident T20 begins with a group format in June, before quarter finals in July and Finals Day at Southampton's Rose Bowl in August. Derbyshire Phantoms play their home games in Derby and Chesterfield.
Every third Thursday of the month, the large open area of the Market Place in Derby is enlivened by a dozen stalls selling locally grown and sourced produce.
