Thistle Glasgow is celebrating its success at the Scottish Hotel Awards at the weekend after scooping three prestigious accolades.

Banqueting and Events Facilities Award 2009, Bedroom Design Award 2009 and a Manager Gold Medal were presented to Don McGregor, general manager of Thistle Glasgow at the biggest Scottish hoteliers’ event of the year.

Well located in the heart of the city, the hotel is well underway with its £10m refurbishment investment from its owners Curzon Hotels. The investment forms part of Thistle’s national rebrand and refurbishment strategy across its 33 UK hotels and is one of the most significant refurbishments in the portfolio.

The hotel has 18 meeting rooms including the luxurious and versatile Grand Ballroom, boasting the largest event space in Scotland and now following a £1.2m restoration the most spectacular too, catering for up to 1500 guests, theatre style.

The high standards of the hotel’s meeting and events offering is enhanced by a dedicated conference and events team which serve to manage bookings from initial enquiries through to completion.

Refurbishment of 150 of the hotel’s comfortable, contemporary 300 bedrooms is now complete. Each warm, relaxing room has its own well appointed bathroom, Wi-Fi, colour TV with Satellite, radio, direct dial telephone with voicemail, fax and modem points, plus 24-hour room service.

Guests can upgrade to one of the 65 Premier Executive Rooms - which are amongst the largest bedrooms in Scotland. All include a large executive working desk and a luxurious bathroom with walk-in shower. In addition, the rooms feature a refrigerator which can be stocked on request, room safe, and computer/fax points.
